Remote Learning Updates

Classes at Pratt are moving online. The Libraries have prepared remote learning updates & resources below.

Library Services - Fall 2020

In preparation for the fall 2020 semester, the Pratt Institute Libraries are adapting and improving services to better meet the research needs of students, faculty and staff.  While ensuring safe access to information means that more services and resources have moved online, the Libraries will also be providing a limited schedule for pickup appointments for those seeking to borrow physical materials.

Services

  • Reference services:  Get research help via chat, email, and by appointment!  Look for the pop up window on the library’s webpage.
  • PDF scanning: A “Request a PDF Scan” button will let you request a scan of a book chapter or print article, which will be emailed to you within three business days.
  • No-contact pickup of books, DVDs:  Links within your search results will allow you to select books and DVDs for scheduled, contact-free pickup, at both the Brooklyn and PMC libraries.  Scheduled appointments for pickup will be between the hours of 10am-4pm, Monday - Friday. Patrons must adhere to Pratt's campus access procedure.
  • No-contact pickup of equipment:  Audiovisual equipment will be available for no-contact pickup and return. The standard borrowing period has been extended to one week. Scheduled appointments for pickup and return will be between the hours of 10am - 4pm, Monday - Friday.  Launch -  Monday, September 14.
  • Special Collections and Archives: Materials held in the libraries’ special collections and archives will be available through scanning, video recordings, and a limited number of scheduled research appointments.  For more information see the research guides for Special Collections and the Archives. In-person appointments begin Tuesday, September 7th.
  • Electronic reserves support: While health and safety constraints will prevent the in-house circulation of print reserves this fall, we will be providing support via additional scanning services.  See our reserves procedures for more information.
  • Integration of readings into Canvas LMS: Search for and add library resources directly to your courses within Canvas. This brief video demonstrates this new, easy to use feature.
  • Information literacy instruction:  Librarians are available for customized information literacy instruction to support online learning.  Find more information on remote learning support services here.

Although the physical facilities are temporarily unavailable, the Pratt Institute Libraries are open and ready to serve you online with a wide range of collections and services!  For more information see our webpage, or email libref@pratt.edu.
