Pratt Institute Libraries Committment to Privacy

Pratt Institute Libraries is fully committed to protecting the privacy of its patrons and offering guidance to users on how to protect themselves when performing research online.  We adhere to the American Library Association's Code of Ethics, which includes the principle to “protect each library user's right to privacy and confidentiality with respect to information sought or received and resources consulted, borrowed, acquired or transmitted.”

Pratt Libraries collect data to enhance our services and better support our users. Data is  gathered internally whenever users interact with our services, such as filling out forms, performing keyword searches, or checking out items. In accordance with the Pratt Institute Privacy Policy, this information is used to guide collection development, monitor and fulfill patron requests, and optimize the library's website interface to ensure a seamless user experience.  

Additionally, Pratt Libraries partners with external vendors to provide systems and content that enhance our services. These products may use Personally Identifiable Information (PII) for purposes such as authentication, troubleshooting, and interface improvement. We encourage users to review the privacy policies of these vendors, which are available in a comprehensive list that is routinely updated for currency.
