Making Video Tutorials

a guide for producing video tutorials for Pratt Institute Libraries using Adobe Express

Upload the media to talks.pratt

When your video is ready for publishing, it's time to upload it for the public!

  1. visit https://talks.pratt.edu and login with your Pratt OneKey
  2. Click ADD NEW in the upper right and choose MEDIA UPLOAD
  3. select and upload file
  4. enter in relevant information (title, descriptions, etc)
  5. Select "Unlisted" under Publishing Status

If all you need is a stable URL or embed code, you're all set! If you'd like it to be listed on our Library Tutorials page, please send a systems request to systems.library@pratt.edu and include the URL of your video on Pratt Talks.

Adding Captions

Automatic Captions can be added you videos by doing the following:

  1. log into talks.pratt.edu and click on "My media" (top-right)
  2. Then click on your video title (this takes you to a new page)
  3. Below the video player on the right is an "actions" menu. Click on the "actions" menu and select the "Order transcript" option from the drop-down.

This will place a call to the system and your captions will be produced and attached to your video automatically. It takes a little bit of time, but this is an important step for accessibility!

Editing Captions Manually

Creative Media Specialist Matthew Bray recently gave a tech talk on how to manually edit captions on talks.pratt.edu. Check it out below.
