OpenAthens

A guide for Pratt Faculty as Pratt switches from EZproxy to OpenAthens

Welcome

This Libguide is intended to assist Pratt Faculty with our new Authentication Service OpenAthens.

Openathens is an authentication service that allows users to access subscription based resources such as journals, articles, ebooks, and films.

Previously Pratt has used the service EZProxy to facilitate remote access to these e-resources.

OpenAthens will improve our students' research experience by providing a faster, easier, and more secure way for students and employees to access Pratt's online library collections.

Openathens will

  • Give you access to content directly from the publisher's website
  • Allow you to use a single credential (your Pratt user name and password) to access all resources
  • Be integrated with the Pratt network, which let's you manage your user name and password
  • Requires you to login to Pratt's network only once, which provides continuous access for hours

Benefits of OpenAthens

What is Changing?

Pratt Institute is migrating from EZproxy to OpenAthens effective Summer 2024

This means all links accessible via the Pratt Onekey credentials will only work if they have an OpenAthens prefix.

please visit the broken link tab to see how to fix your links.

How will OpenAthens affect me?

There will be no change if you are accessing resources via Library search.

You may now directly login to all online databases/journals via OpenAthens using your Pratt Onekey account.
