About the Collection
The Pratt Institute Libraries now lend equipment to faculty, staff, and students through no-contact reservation, pickup, and return at the Brooklyn campus. This equipment is intended to provide students and faculty with the means to document projects, make presentations, or implement creative ideas.
Students, faculty and staff can check out the equipment for one week. Equipment cannot be renewed and should be returned on time. All returned equipment is placed in quarantine for 72 hours (3 days) before being circulated again. Late fees for equipment are $12.00 per item per day, or 50c per hour.
Up to six different items may be borrowed at a time. Requests must be submitted one full business day prior to preferred pickup date. All requests will receive an email response. If approved, the borrower will be instructed to select an available pickup time. The borrower must arrive in person with their Pratt ID at the Library’s front door and buzz or call the front desk. Borrowers are responsible to follow campus guidelines for return to campus https://www.pratt.edu/coronavirus/health-and-safety/campus-access/. Equipment will be ready at one of the pickup stations in the lobby. Borrowers will be notified by email to schedule a return appointment on or before the due date. It is the borrower’s responsibility to make this appointment no later than the day the equipment is due or fines will begin to accrue.
Exceptions to these policies for projects must be made at least one week in advance by submitting a Special Equipment Request using the form in this guide ("Special Request"). Special Equipment Requests are granted based on availability of the equipment and are less likely at the end of semesters when equipment is in high demand.
