Welcome to the Assessment Resource Guide, made for the Office of Academic Assessment.
Pratt’s Institute Academic Assessment Policy recognizes the central role of faculty in developing, reviewing, and assessing curriculum, pedagogy, and student learning. Educational assessment refers to the systematic process of evaluating and measuring students' learning, skills, abilities, and progress. It encompasses a variety of methods and tools used to gather information about students' performance and understanding. The primary goals of educational assessment are to:
Measure Learning Outcomes: Determine whether students have achieved the learning objectives and standards set by the educational program.
Inform Instruction: Provide feedback to educators on the effectiveness of their teaching methods and identify areas where students may need additional support.
Guide Educational Decisions: Assist in making decisions about curriculum development, teaching strategies, and resource allocation.
Support Student Growth: Help students understand their strengths and areas for improvement, guiding their own learning and development.
This guide serves to provide the Pratt community with assessment-related information and resources. For more information, please contact Denise Shaver, Director of Academic Assessment, in the Office of the Provost, at dshaver@pratt.edu.
