Our Brooklyn Campus Library has an accessible building entrance and elevator access to all floors. Accessible bathrooms (Mens, Womens, and All-Gender) are located on the Lower Level, in the Staff Lounge.
The stacks (Floors 1, 1M, 2, and 2M) are accessible by elevator; while the paths between shelving columns are wide enough for single wheelchair passage (at 40 ¼" wide), the paths between shelves are not (at 20 ¾" wide).
Our reading rooms (Floors 1 and 2) are accessible. The Learning Lab (Lower Level) and Alumni Reading Room (Floor 3) are accessible. Archives (Floor 3), Research Desk (Floor 1), VMR (Lower Level), and Zine Collection (Floor 2) are all accessible.
Our Manhattan Campus Library is located on Floor 4 of the Pratt Manhattan Campus building. All floors are accessible by elevator, and accessible bathrooms (Mens, Womens, and All-Gender) are available on every floor except Floor 1.
The front doors of the building are not automatic. However, Pratt Safety Officers are positioned near the front door and are able to assist. You can reach the Pratt Manhattan Security Desk at: (212) 647-7776
You can request a PDF scan of any print journal article or book chapter we have in the print collections. All you need to do is search our online catalog and click the “Request a PDF Scan” button. PDF scans use OCR (Optical Character Recognition) to render documents as searchable text.
Visit our Scanning Service Guide to learn more about our scanning service, including policies and copyright guidelines.
Materials from Pratt Institute Archives’ collections can be scanned and made available upon request. If you are interested in viewing items that are not already accessible via our Digital Collections, please reach out to archives staff at archives.library@pratt.edu or 718-687-5381.
If you need a book or DVD transferred between our Brooklyn and Manhattan campuses, use our online form to submit an Intercampus Transfer Request.
If there is a book, chapter, or article that you need but it is not in Pratt's collection, we can still supply it for you. Interlibrary loan is a free service for patrons to borrow physical books and receive OCR scans of chapters and articles from hundreds of participating lending libraries across the US.
You can utilize this service if we do not have the item you are looking for, or if the library has a copy but it is currently checked out. Our goal is to get everyone the resources they are seeking!
Visit our Resource Sharing Guide to learn more about Interlibrary Loan or use our online form to place a request. Questions about Interlibrary Loan? Email Interlibrary Loan (illbklyn@pratt.edu) or call (718) 636-3704.
