The landscape of journals and publications related to disability studies is broad and varied. Below is a small selection of the disability studies publications to which the Pratt Libraries are subscribed, but there are many more. Disability Studies Quarterly

Disability Studies Quarterly (DSQ) is the journal of the Society for Disability Studies (SDS). It is a multidisciplinary and international journal of interest to social scientists, scholars in the humanities and arts, disability rights advocates, and others concerned with the issues of people with disabilities. It represents the full range of methods, epistemologies, perspectives, and content that the field of disability studies embraces. DSQ is committed to developing theoretical and practical knowledge about disability and to promoting the full and equal participation of persons with disabilities in society.

 

Sexuality and Disability

Sexuality and Disability is an international forum for the publication of peer-reviewed original interdisciplinary scholarly papers that address the psychological and medical aspects of sexuality in relation to rehabilitation. Publishing timely research articles, review articles, case studies, clinical practice reports, brief research reports, survey data reports, and book and film reviews, the journal offers the latest developments in the area of sexuality as it relates to a wide range of disabilities and conditions.

 

African Journal of Disability

The African Journal of Disabilitythe official journal of CRS, AfriNEAD and CEDRES, introduces and discusses issues and experiences relating to and supporting the act of better understanding the interfaces between disability, poverty and practices of exclusion and marginalisation. Its articles yield new insight into established human development practices, evaluate new educational techniques and disability research, examine current cultural and social discrimination, and bring serious critical analysis to bear on problems shared across the African continent. Emphasis is on all aspects of disability particularity in the developing African context.

 

Journal of Literary & Cultural Disability Studies

Focusing on representations of disability, Journal of Literary & Cultural Disability Studies publishes a wide variety of textual analyses that are informed by disability theory and, by extension, experiences of disability. Instrumental in the interdisciplinarity of literary studies, cultural studies, and disability studies, JLCDS is an essential disability studies journal for scholars whose work concentrates on the portrayal of disability.

 

Education and Training in Autism and Developmental Disabilities

Education and Training in Autism and Developmental Disabilities (ETADD) focuses on the education and welfare of persons with autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability, and developmental disabilities. ETADD invites research and expository manuscripts and critical review of the literature. Major emphasis is on identification and assessment, educational programming, characteristics, training of instructional personnel, rehabilitation, prevention, community understanding and provisions, and legislation.

 

International Journal of Disability and Social Justice

International Journal of Disability and Social Justice (IJDSJ) is an international and interdisciplinary journal in the field of disability studies. IJDSJ publishes cutting-edge scholarship and research by authors concerned with challenging injustices relating to disability and building inclusive societies. The editors understand disability studies to include critical disability dtudies, ability studies and studies in ableism, and are keen to explore the connections between disability studies and allied fields including deaf studies, mad studies and critical autism studies. They also recognize the importance of work at the intersections of critical perspectives including, but not limited to disability studies and Black, indigenous, postcolonial, gender, transgender and sexuality studies.

 

Research in Developmental Disabilities

Research In Developmental Disabilities is an international journal aimed at publishing original research of an interdisciplinary nature that has a direct bearing on the understanding or remediation of problems associated with developmental disabilities. Articles will be primarily empirical studies, although an occasional position paper or review will be accepted. The aim of the journal will be to publish articles on all aspects of developmental difficulties using rigourous research methods. Our aim is to publish the best available and most current research possible.

 

Asia and Pacific Journal on Disability

The Asia and Pacific Journal on Disability was a bi-annual publication. It aimed at providing a forum for discussion and dissemination of information among policy makers, practitioners, academics and advocates. In each issue, topics were directed to specific themes as identified by the 12 Agendas for Actions adopted by the Asia and Pacific Decade of Disabled Persons, 1993-2002. The emphasis was on publishing articles or research reports that have significant impact on policy and practice concerning people with disabilities and their families.
