Before taking the module, students are given a talk about privacy:
- In libraries in general
- Specific protections for students in academic institutes
- How FERPA protections relate to contacting patrons about overdue items or fines
- The 3+ functional and ethical reasons to close patron accounts
- Protecting the privacy of contact information of their fellow student workers
All VMR Student Workers then take this training module and submit their certificate upon completion.
