What is ConnectNY?

ConnectNY provides access to over 8 million books outside of the Pratt Institute Collection. A consortium of independent academic institutions in New York State, the mission of ConnectNY is to cooperatively share library collections and enhance services for patrons.

How do I use ConnectNY?

From the libraries’ catalog, PrattCat, you can search the ConnectNY holdings by clicking on the ConnectNY button on the navigation bar at the top of the page. This will direct you to the ConnectNY shared catalog. You can make a request by simply searching the catalog, selecting an item of interest, and clicking the Request it button. The automated system will guide you through the steps of submitting the request. Books can be shipped to Brooklyn or Manhattan Pratt Institute campuses.

How long does it take for ConnectNY items to arrive?

Usually ConnectNY requests take approximately one week to arrive. When they arrive, you will receive an email notification to your pratt.edu email address indicating that an item is available for pickup at the Pratt campus location of your choosing. Generally, ConnectNY requests are faster than traditional interlibrary loan requests.

How can I check the status of my ConnectNY request?

You can check the status of a request by logging in to your Library Account under our website’s Quick Links. After entering your name and Pratt ID number, the status of your ConnectNY book will be revealed under the Status header. If you have any questions about your ConnectNY request, you can contact the Interlibrary Loan Department or the Reference Desk.

Can ConnectNY books be renewed?

Yes! All ConnectNY books are allowed one renewal per book for 42 days unless a hold has been placed on the book by another patron. In order to successfully renew the book, you must log in to your Library Account under our website’s Quick Links. After entering your name and Pratt ID number, you can renew your ConnectNY book by selecting the item and clicking the Renew Selected button on the toolbar. Renewals must be submitted before the original due date.
