This exhibition displayed the literary and sculptural pop-up artwork of Pratt alumnus Sam Ita. It featured his four pop-up graphic novel adaptations of classic works of literature, as well as numerous examples of Ita's stand-alone works of pop-up art.
Sam Ita studied graphic design at Pratt Institute. He landed his first job in publishing as production assistant to renowned pop-up artists Robert Sabuda and Matthew Reinhardt. In Moby Dick, A Pop-Up Book, he first combined graphic novel storytelling with moving paper mechanics. Hois unique abilities have since been applied to such varied fields as advertising, toy design, display and animation.
