Equipment at the Pratt Institute Libraries

Questions

Who can borrow equipment?

Pratt faculty, staff, and students who have a library account in good standing.

How many items can be checked out?

Up to three items may be borrowed at a time. Multiples of the same types of items may not be borrowed. The loan period is one business day. Can I renew my rental? Yes, the borrowing can be renewed only once for one business day, by phone or in person.

What if more equipment is needed, or equipment is needed for longer?

A Special Equipment Request should be emailed to equipment.library@pratt.edu at least one week before the requested date.
Specify the following:

  • Pratt ID number and first and last name of the borrower
  • Name, place, and date of the event
  • Quantity and type of equipment needed
  • Preferred pick-up date
  • Preferred return date

What if I check out equipment on a Friday?

The ELO is closed on weekends, which means that equipment borrowed on Friday, will be due on Monday by 1 pm.

What if I fail to return equipment on time?

Fines for equipment returned late accrue at a rate of $12 per item per day or 50c per hour. When $10 in fines is reached, an account is no longer in good standing, and the patron may no longer borrow items from the Library.
