Artstor For Faculty

A guide for faculty to get the most out of Artstor's tools and services.

Adding Images to Artstor

Even though Artstor has over a million images, faculty will often gaps identify in coverage or instances in which the images in Artstor are not adequate to meet their teaching needs.

Faculty with a valid Pratt ID card may request digital images for inclusion in the Pratt Institute Libraries Digital Image Collection, hosted online through Artstor. Whenever possible, the VRC will purchase images from our vendors or will locate comparable images in the Artstor Digital Library. When images are not readily available for purchase or through our Artstor subscription, the VRC will produce digital images in-house via slide scanning, flatbed scanning, or digital photography.

To place an order faculty must fill out a Digital Image Request Form for each source from which they are requesting digital images. The form may be downloaded here, but must be delivered in person to the VRC during regular operating hours.

Image orders should be requested from the best quality reproductions available and will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Depending upon the length of the queue, orders of fewer than 100 images can typically be fulfilled in 1-2 weeks. Orders exceeding 100 images and broader collection development requests should be scheduled in consultation with the Visual Resources Curator.

Unless special arrangements are made, image orders will be delivered directly through the Artstor Digital Library, and an email will be sent when they are ready for pick up.

Personal Collections

Faculty may also add their own images to Artstor directly and may choose to either keep them restricted or share them with everyone at Pratt.
