Big Data, Privacy, and you

Since 2012, Big Data has been hailed as the “next big thing” in business, health, government, education and innovation.  Big Data is the term applied to data sets so huge and complex that it cannot be processed by on-hand technology.

The challenges of Big Data include capture, curation, storage, analysis, visualization, and of course, privacy.  As data sets increase in size, privacy decreases, posing potentially hazardous implications for personal information.  Whether you are aware of it or not, every day you are being quantified and datafied; you are a part of the Big Data Revolution.

Big Data is decidedly here to stay, but the questions remain: Who has access to all this data? And what are they doing with it?
