Getting the most out of the Artstor Digital Library and the Pratt Institute Libraries' growing collection of digital images.

Finding Images

Searching in Artstor can be done in a number of ways:

Keyword Search - Simplest and most popular form of search.  Just enter a term from any location in Artstor.  You may want to limit your search using filters or faceted search.

Advanced Search - This search allows you to perform Boolean Searches on multiple terms and limit your searches to the Creator or Title fields.  You can also limit your search by Geography, Date, or Classification.

Browsing Artstor by Geography, Classification, or Collection - Browsing allows you to find images in Artstor based on broad categories.

Full Screen Mode and Detail Viewer

Once you have performed a search, you will come to a thumbnail page of images.  By double-clicking any thumbnail, you will launch the Detail page and Fullscreen mode.

From the image viewer you can:

- Zoom, Pan, and Rotate an Image

- View Data

- Print an Image

- Download an Image

Downloading Images

Anyone may download an image or a detail from the Image Viewer window.  Users will be prompted to access Artstor's Terms and Conditions of Use, and images will download at a resolution of approximately 1,000 pixels on the long side, which is the same width as a PowerPoint slide.
