Art of the Book

The Pratt Institute Libraries Present the Exhibition

Art of the Book

November 28 - December 11, 2012

Brooklyn Campus Library

Art of the Book features a selection of works created by students in professor Robbin Ami Silverberg's Art of the Book Class (Tech 545).

The making of artists' books is a field in which aesthetic and conceptual presentations of ideas are organized possible combinations of image, word, material, and structure. Offered by Pratt's Department of Fine Arts, the class provides a forum to develop book concepts, explore the craft of making books in a range of bindings, and transform them into unique objects.

Beyond Pratt

Hosted by college libraries and artists' books organizations, the following digital image collections are fully searchable by the public. Other good sources for artist's book images are sites maintained by individual book artists as well as publishers, distributors & vendors of artists' books.
